Kuala Lumpur, 25 May – Earlier today, homegrown and leading e-wallet Boost organized an event showcasing their e-donation feature that is enabling Malaysians to go cashless while being socially responsible. Yayasan Kebajikan Negara, a charitable fund under the purview of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development was also introduced as the newest partner organization to be part of Boost’s e-donation family at the event.

The event was officiated by YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Dr. Wan Ismail, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Women, Family and Community Development together with Datin Paduka Che Asmah binti Ibrahim, CEO of Yayasan Kebajikan Negara, Tan Sri Ghazzali Sheikh Abdul Khalid, Chairman of Axiata Group Berhad, Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim, President and Group CEO of Axiata Group Berhad and Mohd Khairil Abdullah, CEO of Axiata Digital Services, Boost’s parent company.

“Malaysians are caring and generous in nature, always willing and ready to lend a hand to those in need. E-donation plays an important role in creating sustainable opportunities for the rakyat to reach and give back to communities locally and regionally”, said Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Dr. Wan Ismail, Deputy Prime Minister.

Boost’s e-donation feature was launched in May 2018. Today, over 4 million users can #DoGoodWithBoost with over 30 charity & NGO partners ranging from education, environment, cancer research, social and animal welfare as well as more than 70 religious institutions.

“We launched the e-donation feature as an experiment to bridge the gap in how charities and NGOs alike connect with the community and vice versa. Along the way, we discovered that it is a low cost means of collecting donations conveniently, securely and transparently. To-date, over half a million ringgit in cashless donations have been collected. While the figure is still relatively small, there is indeed a new-found acceptance in digital donations”, said Mohd Khairil Abdullah, CEO of Axiata Digital Services.

Khairil also added e-donation can be a catalyst to inculcate charitable values amongst digital natives and provide charities and NGOs a new platform to raise awareness on their causes and amplify fundraising efforts. He said Boost has since been scaling up by partnering with more foundations and organizations to expand this feature and hopes to have a direct impact to families in-need in the near future.

During the event, there was also a panel discussion with Khairil alongside representatives from RHB Islamic Bank’s Kempen SyuQR, Make-A-Wish Malaysia, Persatuan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Istimewa (ORKIDS) and BersamaMu. They shared that e-donation platform has helped them increase their reach to the public and raise awareness on their causes.

“In an increasingly digital savvy Malaysia, we have confidence that e-donation will be able to empower and mobilize more people to be socially conscious and responsible for the greater good of the community and the nation. We look forward to make it more accessible for the rakyat to connect to causes close to their hearts”, said Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim, President and Group Chief Executive Officer
