Running made fun at the Great Eastern LIVE GREAT Run 2019.

The Great Eastern Live Great Run was flagged off by Chief Executive office of Great Eastern Life Malaysia, Dato Koh Yaw Hui , together with Board go Directors

KUALA LUMPUR, August 29, 2019 – The Great Eastern LIVE GREAT Run 2019 brought 14,000 eager runners to the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on 17 August, lighting up the iconic stadium for an evening of healthy fun and family-friendly excitement.

Currently in its eighth year, the Great Eastern LIVE GREAT Run was created to help Malaysians achieve their health goals by demonstrating that leading an active lifestyle can be an enjoyable and meaningful way to spend quality time with loved ones. True to that aim, the event returned this year with its two staple categories – the signature 12KM LIVE GREAT Run, and the fan favourite, the 5KM Triple Fun Run.

Spirits were high at the starting line when the event was officially flagged off by Dato Koh Yaw Hui, Chief Executive Officer of Great Eastern Life Malaysia, who was accompanied by the board of directors.

The 12KM LIVE GREAT Run challenged seasoned runners who aimed to surpass their personal bests by putting their strength to the test, both mentally and physically. Muhaizar Mohamad emerged as champion in the Men’s Open category by completing the route in 42 minutes and 10 seconds, while Chooi Fern Loh clocked a time of 51 minutes and 35 seconds to win the Women’s Open category, which earned them both RM1,000 each.

The 5KM Triple Fun Run brought participants through three unique zones. The Triple Fun Run once again proved to be the favourite to many as they were showered with bubbles and foam in the Bubble Zone; soaked by water gun washdowns in the Water Zone; and covered by slime, a brand new element in the Colour Zone.

The fun continued beyond the route at the LIVE GREAT Carnival, where exciting activities like big inflatables, classic carnival games, twinkling light tunnel, giant snow globe, and Insta-worthy photo spots thrilled the crowd.

Participants and visitors alike also indulged in a host of local and international delicacies at the Carnival. In conjunction with Great Eastern Malaysia’s 111th anniversary, food vouchers worth up to RM13.00 were offered to all, which enabled them to enjoy the wide selection of delicious food at only RM1.10! In addition, all Great Eastern Life policyholders enjoyed a special 10% discount at the Carnival, exclusive access to a Chillout Zone, as well as complimentary cold-pressed juice and salads.

The event was brought to a close with a mesmerising display of fireworks, lighting up the night sky over the bustling stadium grounds.

Organised by Great Eastern Life Malaysia, the Great Eastern LIVE GREAT Run has been held annually to popular acclaim with the support of its sponsors. This year, its official sponsors were Counterpain, New Balance, 3M Futuro, Yogood, Anlene, Garmin, Yakult, dahmakan, O’Briens, MyTOWN Shopping Centre, Himalaya Candy, Clear and 100 Plus.

The Great Eastern LIVE GREAT Run is one of the signature events under the Great Eastern LIVE GREAT Programme, the first integrated health and wellness initiative by an insurance company in the region. This holistic programme consists of five key components: Wellness Tools, Health Tips, Mobile Apps, Workshops and Events, and the LIVE GREAT Card, which provides exclusive health and wellness privileges at partner establishments nationwide.

Kuala Lumpur, 29 August 2019 - The digital asset payment revolution has finally arrived inMalaysia as HWGG Capital P.L.C has officially launched its HwgPay Blockchain Ecosystem, allowing consumers to make safe, secure, and reliable digital asset spending. The event, which recently took place at Shangri-La, Kuala Lumpur, was graced by the presence of YB Tuan Tan
Kok Wai, Special Envoy of Malaysia to the People’s Republic of China as well as En. Danial Mah Abdullah, Director-General of Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA).

YB Tuan Tan Kok Wai, Special Envoy of Malaysia to the People’s Republic of China The Future of Digital Asset Payments.

The HwgPay Blockchain Ecosystem is a cohesive network made up of HWGG Capital’s digital asset payment solutions: HWG Cash and HwgPay. HWG Cash is Asia’s first regulated cash token, pegged against the US Dollar, making it the first Asia based stable token. HwgPay is a digital asset wallet that can be used to store, send, receive and make payments using digital assets and cash tokens such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and, of course, HWG Cash. Both blockchain-powered digital asset payment solutions were announced earlier this year by HWGG Capital, introducing consumers and businesses to the convenience of digital assets. The HwgPay Blockchain Ecosystem aims to empower both consumers and merchants with solutions that not only enable and simplify digital asset spending, but also allow safer and faster everyday transactions.

“The launch of HwgPay Blockchain Ecosystem is the culmination of the long journey undertaken by HWGG Capital to introduce regulated digital assets transactions for consumers and businesses,” said Gavin Lim, CEO of HWGG Capital. “Blockchain technology has the potential to not only change the way we conduct secure, online payment transactions but also innovate everyday services such as distribution, automation, and verification.”

In the past, few businesses were willing to handle digital assets due to the hassle of converting it into digital money for regular transactions. Thanks to regulation from the Labuan FSA, the stability of HWG Cash prevents businesses from suffering from massive fluctuating values ypical of digital currency. Furthermore, the use of everiToken public chain technology behind HWG Cash also allows consumers and merchants to make digital assets transactions without security risk, excess fees, or third-party interference.

Moving Labuan, Malaysia Forward as a Leader in Digital Innovation
In early 2019, the Malaysian Finance Ministry indicated that the country is well on its way towards becoming a cashless society with over 90% of Malaysians having access to online banking and local vendors at ease with digital wallets. This vision is shared by HWGG, whose Labuan FSA licensed solutions already enable users to easily pay for products and services with digital assets. HWGG is working in line with the government's efforts of turning the Federal Territory of Labuan into a fintech and blockchain hub. “Since its adoption of blockchain technology, 25% of the world’s blockchain projects are currently underway in China. The country also holds most number of patents on blockchain technology,” said YB Tuan Tan Kok Wai, Special Envoy of Malaysia to the People’s Republic of China. “With blockchain technology’s potential to level the playing field between developing and developed nations, Labuan has now taken its first major steps towards digital innovation following the launch of the HwgPay Blockchain Ecosystem.”

Gavin Lim Chun Hoo, Chief Executive Officer, HWGG Capital P.L.C, Brady Luo, Co-Founder & CEO, everiToken, Jenn Lim, CEO, Virtual Currency Philippines Inc. (VCPI) and Henry Yu, Principal Partner, Henry Yu & Associates in Association with L&Y Law Office (from left to right) Panel Discussion: “Blockchain: The Game Changer To Move Beyond Digital Payment”.

Today’s global economy is now digitally powered, and blockchain technology is rapidly driving innovation within banking and manufacturing industries. The Malaysian government is also encouraging digitalisation in both private and public sectors as the country moves towards Industry 4.0. The HwgPay Blockchain Ecosystem aims to first catapult Labuan into becoming the leader in blockchain adoption, entrepreneurship and innovation, thus positioning the country as an attractive prospect for high-technology and high-value added blockchain economy and industries in the region.

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 Aug 2019 - Over the past year, the Government has rolled out a number of initiatives to reduce the cost of living in Malaysia. Its recent initiative is the establishment of the National Action Committee on e-commerce by the National Cost of Living Action Council. The aim is to promote and strengthen the use of e-commerce, thereby eliminating the role of middlemen in a bid to lower the cost of consumer goods.

In view of this, the Government has been engaging closely with Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, on how it can best alleviate the rising cost of living for Malaysians. One of Shopee’s efforts is to work alongside Malaysian retailers by lowering the barrier of entry to the digital economy. Additionally, the cost of operating a business online is much lower. In turn, Shopee encourages retailers to share their cost savings with shoppers, thereby making online shopping more affordable for consumers. As a result, consumers see themselves saving an average of 20% on their daily necessities when they shop on Shopee on a regular day, with the potential to save up to 90% during major shopping events like 9.9 Super Shopping Day.

Taking place from 19 August to 9 September 2019, the campaign offers greater deals and discounts across categories from brands such as Nutox, HP, L'Oréal, Vinda, Photobook Malaysia, Enfagrow, Universal Traveller, realme, MR DIY and Nestle. To further promote the adoption of e-commerce and encourage Malaysians to take advantage of these savings, Shopee is bringing down the minimum spend for free shipping to RM9.

Welcoming the initiative, Song Hock Koon, Director of E-Commerce, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, said, “One of MDEC’s objectives is to encourage Malaysians to become immersed in the digital ecosystem, as such initiatives like these will help accelerate adoption in a sustainable and cost-effective manner. We are always pleased to collaborate and support industry moves and trust that this latest initiative will further inspire digital entrepreneurship efforts.”

Ian Ho, Regional Managing Director, Shopee said, “Shopee’s mission has always been to impact local communities on a meaningful and sustainable level through initiatives such as our sales campaigns that will allow Malaysians to continue shopping and stocking up on necessities without breaking the bank. At the same time, I am happy to announce Shopee’s partnership with our latest brand ambassador Cristiano Ronaldo. Having him on board is truly a milestone for us. This makes us more than just a shopping platform as we continue to inspire users and connect them with the biggest stars and celebrities in the world.”

At the launch of 9.9 Super Shopping Day held at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Shopee revealed its newest brand ambassador, Cristiano Ronaldo. As one of the greatest athletes, he is an inspiration to many and his dedication to football resonates with the deep commitment Shopee has towards its users. He will be working with Shopee across its seven markets in a wide range of activities to engage and inspire people in the region.

Cristiano Ronaldo said, “I am proud to be Shopee’s brand ambassador as we share the same ambition to be the best in our fields. I am always improving my game for my fans and my team, just as Shopee innovates to benefit their users in this region. I am excited by this partnership, and I look forward to creating more special moments for my fans together with Shopee.”
