Kuala Lumpur, 22 November 2019 – Rediscover the cultural links among China, India, Indonesia,
Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand through Crafting Artistry Exhibition, GALERI PETRONAS’ final
exhibition for 2019, focusing on a region situated at the crossroads of the maritime silk and spice road. Distinctive exhibits such as textile, fibre, wood, ceramic and metal, drawn from common cultural roots,

migration and the spread of religions have had a profound influence on the expression of Asian arts and
crafts, evolving within each country into their own unique characters.”

(PETRONITA), Puan Sri Dr Azura Ahmad Tajuddin, who said in her speech: “Through the gallery,
PETRONAS provides a platform for expressing views and opinions on issues relating to humanity while

About CRAFTING ARTISTRY Exhibition
Crafting Artistry: A Journey Along the Maritime Silk and Spice Road is GALERI PETRONAS’ final
exhibition for 2019. It is an exhibition that brings together distinctive cultural expressions of six countries -
China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand. It seeks to rediscover links drawn from a common root of influence, namely China and India, and how they
have spread to the South East Asian region, through the trade and migration routes on land and by sea. Therefore, by showcasing traditional and contemporary art forms, the exhibition not only celebrates the
cultural strength that has perpetuated but also highlights the creative imaginings of artists and craftsmen of
each country.
