KBS, JPT AND MDEC JOINTLY OFFICIATES THE INAUGURAL 5TH ADOBE CERTIFIED ASSOCIATE CHAMPIONSHIP MALAYSIA 2020 TO UPSKILL & REINFORCE MALAYSIAN CREATIVITY, SKILLS AND TALENTS FOR THE CREATIVE INDUSTRY & ACADAMIA

KUALA LUMPUR, 20 February 2020 – Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia (KBS), Department of Higher Education (JPT) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has officially launched the 5th Annual Edition of ACA (Adobe Certified Associate) Championship Malaysia 2020, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program organized by Acestar Sdn. Bhd. (Acestar), at the Connexion, Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur. The ACA Championship provides a platform for young students in Malaysia from all institutions of higher learning, including secondary schools, colleges, universities and polytechnics to showcase their creativity, skills and talents using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, which are in demand today by the industry and academia. The Grand Winner of ACA Championship Malaysia 2020 will compete in the ACA World Championship in California, USA. YBrs Prof. Madya Dr Wan Zuhainis binti Saad, Director of Academic Excellence Division of Department of Higher Education (JPT), said, “The ACA Championship Malaysia 2020 is a greatavenue for students in Malaysia to be discovered for their skills by industry leaders whiledemonstrating to the world of the capabilities of Malaysia’s youth in this field. My ministry understands that the job market for the youth is currently tough due to the rapid changes in technology adoption and the diverse needs of employers. With initiatives such as ACA Championship Malaysia organized by Acestar, we are delighted to see the employment opportunities and mediums created which are suitable for the youth of Malaysia.”


The 2020 Edition of ACA Championship Malaysia will be the most exciting and distinct creative competition yet, and is poised to attract over a thousand students, in cooperation with approximately 120 creative institutes. In addition to prominent past entries such as INTI International College, MMU, UCSI University, TARCU, Sunway University, University of Nottingham, Taylors University, LIMKOKWING University and many more. In addition to that, ACA Championship Malaysia 2020 will see new participation from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Crescendo International College – Johor, Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin (PSMZA), Kings College (Kuala Lumpur), Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Impian Emas (Johor Bahru) and many more. According to Natalie Sit, Group Chief Executive Officer of Acestar, “With the Vision to build Malaysia as the hub for the creative industry in Asia, we created ACA Championship Malaysia 2020 to provide the youths in Malaysia with the opportunity to showcase their design skills using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. As part of our CSR program, we will also be

sponsoring the Grand Winner representing Malaysia to compete in the ACA WorldChampionship in the US.”“As ACA Championship Malaysia is our CSR program, which means registration is free, we are projecting a 10% increase of students’ registration while a 20% increase of institutes of higher education participation this year. Moreover, I am pleased to announce that for this year’s ACAChampionship Malaysia 2020, we are working with Breast Cancer Foundation to create awareness of Breast Cancer in Malaysia. They will be providing the participants with the theme and the topic for the competition. We are honored to have them onboard to help them in creating awareness on Breast Cancer,” added Natalie Sit.ACA Championship Malaysia 2020 will be held in three-parts which are Competition kick-off & Briefing for Design Subject; Live Test for Top 30 Finalist; and the Grand Finale in conjunction with SEA Connect – The Creative Conference 2020. Firstly, for part one, over one thousand students from all over Malaysia will be briefed on the ACA Championship Malaysia 2020 theme, topic, rules and regulation, which will be held on the 19th March 2020. The participants will be given time until 1st April 2020 at 3.00pm to submit their final competition artwork where the Top 30 Finalist Artworks will be chosen by the judges to move on to the Live Test Round of the ACA Championship Malaysia 2020. For part two, the Top 30 Finalist will sit for an 8-hours Live Test at an un-disclosed location on 23rd April 2020. The Live Test Round is the final step for participants to determine who will be the Grand Prize Winner. Finally, the Grand Prize Winner of the ACA Championship Malaysia 2020 will be announced at the Grand Finale held in conjunction with SEA Connect – The Creative Conference 2020, which will be held on 14th May 2020 at Grand Nexus, Connexion, Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur. The Grand Prize Winner of ACA Championship Malaysia 2020 will represent Malaysia in the ACA World Championship in California, USA held on 15th June 2020.


Muhammad Luqman Hakim bin Mohd Hanapiah, the Grand Prize Winner of ACA Championship Malaysia 2019 from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, said, The ACA Championship Malaysia 2019 and ACA World Championship was truly a humbling experience. I am honestly honored to have the opportunity to represent Malaysia on a prestigious international level, and I have gained so much knowledge and experience from this journey. I would like to thank Acestar for having such a valuable and eye-opening competition such as this that has enable me to see the endless potential that the creative industry has to offer.
